LET’S GROW SOMETHING
I have always just loved flowers! When I was little I told my mom I wanted to be a florist. I remember passing “ The Bud Stop” on the way to school and just thinking how cool that could be!
Looking at the current state of our backyard, almost a year of being here, it’s just not quite ready yet. But, I just can’t wait to walk out the doors one day to rows of flowers, a full vegetable garden, and now apparently my husband wants chickens.
I went on a seed buying craze last week and I must have ordered 50 packets flower and vegetable seeds, handfuls of dahlia tubers, and a whole bunch of starting trays. Saturday I got my seed starting mix and got to work, and an hour later I had run out of trays!
So here is our “growing room” in all her glory… for now. Some growing lights have been ordered, warming mats are next, and possibly a few more pots will be added as soon as they get here. I was shocked when I went to water them today and already the lettuce, beans, and flowers are sprouting, just two days after planting! Daily I am so thankful to have a home with big windows that let all the light come in to keep my indoor and soon to be transplanted outdoor plants happy.
Now maybe this wasn’t my original direction of this blog, but goodness am I excited to see where this goes!
I have been following Melissa- The Growing Seasons (@thegrowingseasons) on Instagram since I watched their episode on First Time Reno, and goodness am I so thankful I found here. Inspiration on growing rooms, tips for seeds, and a gorgeous producing garden that I just love learning from! Now obviously small town Georgia and California have many differences, but I just love seeing what could be in our growing garden. Also extremely excited for the Giant Sunflower seeds she sent over! Which as of today are making the soil move big time!
Follow along as we see how this goes! Home projects of course will be shared too, once I get the right words for the spaces we have created!
