RAISED BEDS

In the excitement of seeds becoming seedlings and flower seeds, bulbs, tubers, and corms on the way, I ordered raised beds off amazon so quickly!

Last weekend we assembled these adorable green metal ones (https://amzn.to/38ebf4Q) , that in a random competition, I finished building mine first. They are 6X3X1 and took maybe 45 minutes to assemble and then tighten, I’m telling you though it sure takes a million little nuts and bolts… but hey they are secure.

Once I really started to see all the seeds I ordered, I felt a little panicked, was that going to be enough space? I knew I wasn’t going to budget in two more raised beds, yes they are so fun.. but there has to be a more cost effective way.

Wood is expensive y’all. I started going down a rabbit hole on Lowe’s website and decided we needed to take a gamble on some fencing pickets once I saw the price. Six pickets to make 2 6’ X 3’ X5” beds…. for under $15 Dollars! YES PLEASE

Jesse cut two of the boards in half and just used some screws to assemble, the best part about these is that they are already pressure treated, so minimal work required! These are the ones we got Fence Picket

I think it would be pretty simple to make them higher, maybe just a 2x2 piece on the inside of each corner and another picket on top.

After 10 bags of garden soil, 4 packs of compost and 4 of raised bed top soil, I think we are all set!

Until we clear out our azaleas, I’m so happy that we have found a space in the yard to start growing!
